Wet milling of grain and maize produces quality results and is now a key process for many farms. This unbeatable quality is achieved due to the low flour content and maximum particle size maintained using special screens. The resulting feed texture ensures excellent fattening performance and keeps livestock in perfect health and free from stomach ulcers.
Wet milling causes a heat exchange that has two particularly beneficial effects:
1. The heat generated by milling is absorbed directly by the fluid. The temperature of the feed and the generally cold well water (approx. 8°C) is increased by up to 6°C. This makes the feed lighter and easier to assimilate by the livestock as less energy is used to warm the feed to body temperature. Vomiting caused by hasty absorption of cold liquid feed is avoided.
2. The grain on the other hand is cooled by the fluid, preventing overheating and preserving the enzymes. The temperature rise equates to supplying 6 to 8 kWh per 1000 litres of liquid feed, a saving of 0.75 to 1 euro per head compared to using electrical energy. Numerous tests have shown that the heat generated by milling increases the contribution margin by more than a euro.
The SILOHAAKE wet milling function is a particularly energy-efficient system. An 18.5 kW mill with a special screen is capable of grinding 2500 kg of maize kernels, CCM or grain per hour (depending on type).
The wet mill is designed to grind dry grain and almost all types of commonly used feed, regardless of moisture content, without alteration.
The milled grain is conveyed to feeding equipment that can be more than 100 metres away by means of an economic, energy-saving, low-maintenance system comprising pumps and easy-to-install PVC pipes.
Foreign bodies (metal, stones, sand, etc.) are removed by a special separator upstream of the mill.
The stainless steel mill has an almost unlimited service life. The hardened stainless steel hammers offer exceptionally cost-effective performance with a single set processing well over 1 million kilograms of grain – less than 0.04 euro per 100 kg.The mills available as standard range in power from 11 kW to 30 kW.
The mills available as standard range in power from 11 kW to 30 kW.
For other, older makes of wet mill, we supply replacement parts (screens and hammer sets) as well as conversion kits (motor seals for grain milling, double inlets to increase throughput, etc.).
The SILOHAAKE wet milling system is now more efficient and economical than ever before, without compromising on feed quality. It is also ideally suited for milling dry grain.
